Hi, friends! It's Joe and Kathleen from @jophotos. We're taking over PhotoVision’s Instagram for a few days, and we're going to show you a little bit of the mountains we call home here in Tennessee! We've been shooting weddings for 8 years, and film for the past 3. We remember the first few months we started shooting film, we talked to @_stephenwood at least once a week (sometimes 3 or 4+ times!) and we seriously wouldn't be where we are today without the helping hands and advice from the fine folks at PhotoVision. We're ready to kick off this week with you, and hope you hang out with us along the way!
@jophotos Takeover Day 1 “Water.” In Tennessee, we're never far from a lake or a river, so we try to incorporate water into our sessions because we absolutely love the look of water on film! It beats digital any day of the week, hands down. This is a shot from one of our favorite water sessions. We went to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park for this shoot in the middle of July. The water in the Smokies is chilly, and our model was actually shivering by the end of the shoot, she was so cold! But the way the water flowed over the rocks and rippled around her was gorgeous, so we added a sheer robe and veil and it elevated the dimension of movement.
@jophotos Takeover Day 1 “Composition.” Mother Nature is truly incredible! So we try to frame our subjects with trees, branches, ivy and other natural creations. This image is from one of our favorite weddings in Charleston, South Carolina. The tree in the background provides a beautiful arch to frame the couple, so it draws your eye to the bride and groom. We're always on the lookout for the way trees lean over a pathway or the way reflections in a pond or lake can help frame our subjects, so they perfectly fit into the photo.
